How to convert .flv file to put on ipod?

I have a .flv file (video) that I want to put on my ipod is there a way to convert it to be able to play it? Right now I can only play it in a certain flv player, I'm thinking I would need to convert it to either wmp or something itunes can use, anyone have any idea how to do this?
