What is the best way to remove a small bee/yellow jacket next from the outside of my home?

I noticed a nest last spring/summer under the shingles...of course they froze/died off...now there is another starting a few feet away a piece of honeycomb like structure approx. 1 inch wide and I've noticed a few flying around!
