Your View on Ganondorf's Death in Twilight Princess?

I think Zant did die, but Ganondorf shared his spirit with Zant when Ganondorf made him powerful, so the dead Zant was able to take the last bit of power out of Ganondorf to kill him. But it is a bizzare death, I wish I knew the right answer since my answer is just guessing.
