Serious question about faith and science: Can a person who follows a faith devoutly be truly objective if they?

are involved in scientific research? Should they be objective? If they truly believe that God created the world in seven days and its important to their beliefs, should they put that aside when doing research? I am not trying to cause trouble. I am honestly interested in your ideas on this subject. I am particularly interested in the opinions of devout believers. Thanks.
